M.B.C. BOWLS TOUR 2019 to BOURNEMOUTH
Our 2019 Tour to Dorset, based in Bournemouth was enjoyed by all who took part, special thanks to Julian of Bennett's Coaches for his excellent door to door service each day, his driving skills and the jokes.
In Memory of the Tour Organiser, Peter Gadd, who sadly died shortly before the tour started, we purchased a trophy in his memory, the "Peter Gadd Memorial trophy", which we decided we would award to the bowler with the best results during the week.
This year's winner was Colin Cradock, and the trophy will be engraved and kept in the clubhouse until our next tour.
We also awarded a prize to the "Best Lady Bowler" and this went to one of our guests, Jenny Hughes of Penn Fields Bowls Club (Wolverhampton) We should see her again later this year as we have a fixture at Marldon against Penn Fields on October 1st to finish off the 2019 outdoor season.
The "Best Rink" award went to Pat Edwards, Barry Hodges, Sid Bexon (of Exonia BC) and Bryan Salter for a 19 shot win in a rain affected game at Iford Bridge.
A quick poll of the players on the coach home about where we should tour next year was won by Cornwall, the committee will be looking for an organiser to see if this can be achieved.
We thank Ray O'Brien, Colin Cradock and Bryan Salter for taking over the running of this year's tour at very short notice.
