Have you ever wanted to try playing bowls? Here's your chance...

On Monday 23rd April we will have some Club representatives available for discussion in the entrance hall at Morrisons, Paignton. They can give you an insight into the game and the social aspects of being a member at Marldon Bowls Club.

Then on the following five Sundays (29th April, 6th May, 13th May, 20th May and 27th May) from 10.00am until 1.00pm, the Marldon Bowls Club is holding Open Days and coaching for anyone who wishes to try the sport of bowls. At the same time more experienced players looking for a new club are welcome to come along and see what Marldon Bowls Club can offer.

For the beginners we will have qualified coaches on hand to advise on all aspects of the game, and there will be ample opportunity to have a go and deliver a few bowls as well as see what the club can offer from a social perspective.

The Club itself enjoys a delightful setting in the middle of Marldon just off of Furzegood. It has its own large car park and licensed Club House and a full size green featuring six rinks.

New members who have not bowled before will be given free structured coaching to enable them to enjoy the game as quickly as possible. Coaching is also available for more experienced bowlers should they request it.

So, if you would like to try a game for all age groups, that is fun to play, gives gentle exercise in a friendly environment please come and see what Marldon Bowls Club can offer. There is no need to book but further information is available from June Gibbons tel. 01803 326625.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Sunday 20th until Friday 25th May (6 Days, 5 Nights)

The 2018 Tour has been arranged to visit Herefordshire and Powys making the Green Dragon Hotel in Hereford our base for 5 nights. The hotel is situated in the centre of this lovely city, with its imposing Cathedral, which houses the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library Exhibitions being only minutes away. This will be the 3rd time we have visited the city and the Hotel, the last time was in 2014 and on previous occasions we have had a really good time, being welcomed wherever we have gone. Five games have been arranged during our stay the venues being Hereford BC on the Sunday where a Buffet Lunch has been arranged, and at Leominster, Brecon (in the Black Mountains) Llandrindod Wells (the home of Bowls Wales) and Bulmers BC in Hereford, (the home of cider making). All are 6 Rink Mixed games.

The Hotel has 83 Bedrooms and accommodation is on a Bed, Breakfast and Evening Dinner Basis, in en suite rooms with tea and coffee making, telephone, hair dryer,

Wifi & TV. There is a Lift which serves all floors. All meals are Buffet Style served in

the John Spices' Restaurant. The restaurant motto is, Eat what you want, As much as you like, in any order you like.

There is the Garrick Coffee Lounge and Hotel Bar, and a Residents Lounge which has the charm of Victorian times, with its large comfy settees, chairs, and decor. A 49 seat Executive Coach will transport us throughout the tour and will be supplied by Bennett Travel of Kingsteignton and providing he is still employed at Bennetts, Steve will be our driver. The hotel does not provide entertainment in the evening, but we have not found this to be a problem as the city centre only a few minutes away with all its amenities there is enough to keep one occupied. However, we are organising a Skittles Evening at a local venue, plus the Prize Presentation for the Thursday evening, to be followed by music for dancing.

The tour will depart Marldon Post Office at 8am, picking up at Marldon School and Vicarage Hill, and will stop for Coffee en-route before arriving at Hereford BC for a Buffet Lunch and afternoon game.

The Tour price includes accommodation in En-suite Rooms, meals as stated, including

Buffet Lunch on Sunday, coach travel throughout, Drivers Gratuity, but does not include Green Fees Monday to Thursday. There are no green fees payable on Sunday.

Single, Double, Twin and Triple Rooms are available . Supplement as stated with limited availability (Double Room for Single Occupancy 50).

A 25pp Non Returnable Deposit is required on booking, the balance is payable by the Marldon Spring Meeting towards the end of March. Cheques should be made payable to Marldon Bowling Club Ltd,  An Easy Payment Scheme ls available, please contact  Pam Neale our Treasurer.
