August 22nd Kingsbridge Park v Marldon A Our last game of the season
John Gibbons, Peter C, Martin C, and Dave C were 5 shots down after 7 ends but pulled back narrowing the gap
with a 5 on the 10th end and taking the lead with a 3 on the 13th end. Marldon kept the lead to finish five shots up at 21-16.
Mick, Mike S, Richard R and Ollie took an early lead and despite dropping a 7 on the 15th end (which brought the
oopposition level) won 5 of the last 6 ends for a 22-14 win.
Logan, Les H, Wes and Martin R steadily outscored the opposition for a 23-16 win.
Our fourth rink, Bryan, Les C, Alan B and Bob T (three players standing up from B team), started well, taking a 7-0
lead before dropping a 5 followed by a 2 to put scores level at 7 ends. Marldon once again took a small lead but Kingsbridge
then scored 3, 4, and 1 to give themselves a four shot lead. Another 4 and a 2 increased their lead to 10 shots and all Marldon
could do was reduce this to 8 by the end of the game, losing 15-23.

August 1st Totnes v Marldon A
A close game but Marldon managed 2 winning rinks with enough points to take the game 10-4.
July 25th Marldon A V Chudleigh
John Gibbons, Martin C, Peter C and Dave C were 7 shots
down after 5 ends and 8 down at 10 ends but pulled back to level the scores at 17 all after 18 ends and 18 all at 20 ends.
Chudleigh scored a 3 on the last end to condemn Marldon to a 18-21 defeat.
Mike S, Richard R, Ollie and James found the opposition too hot to handle and were 7 shots down after just three ends.
The game didn't get any easier and they lost 16-28.
Richard M, Alan B, Allan C and Ed, had a very close game briefly leading before losing 6 ends in a row to go 11-17
behind. A 2 and two 3's put Marldon briefly back in front before a four from Chudleigh turned the game back their way and
Marldon narrowly lost, 20-22.
Logan, Craig, Wes and Martin R were Marldon's best rink tonight, racing to a 15-4 lead after 10 ends, the opponents were only
able to close the gap by three shots and Marldon won 24-16

July 1st Kings B v Marldon A
John Gibbons, Martin C, Peter C and Dave C picked up
8 shots in three ends at the beginning of their game and this was the lead they held to the end winning 26-18
Logan, Craig, Wes and Martin R scored first but found their opponents to be stronger and slowly fell behind, finishing the
game 13-23 down.
Mike S, Bob T Richard R and James were very slow to start, being 0-14 down by the 6th end against some very accurate
bowlers. However, once Marldon won an end they started to peg the opponents back and after winning 6 ends in a row were only
one shot behind at 15-16. The opposition held themselves together on the final five ends to win the game 22-17.
Marldon's star rink again was Gordon, Alan b Allan C and Ed, who had an even first half of game to be just 11 -9 up after 11 ends.
A big finish from Marldon saw them win the last 10 ends without reply for a good 29-9 win that sealed the result for Marldon.

June 29th Marldon A v Paignton Torbay
Bob T, Martin C, Peter C and Dave C were in a close game and were 6-11 down after 11 ends, but winning the
next 5 ends turned this round to a 17-11 lead and a further 6 shots gave Marldon a 23-15 win.
Logan, Craig, Bryan and Martin R were also in a close game and were 13 all after 12 ends. Marldon had the better of the
second part of game to win 22-17.
Colin C, Alan B, Allan C and Ed were 8-7 up at 9 ends but took control to power away to a 27 -11 win.
Mike S, Gordon, Richard R and Ollie won 12 of their 21 ends scoring well for a 32-14 win
June 24th Marldon A v Bovey Tracey
Gordon, Martin C, Peter C and Dave C had an even start, level after 6 ends but then took the lead to go 14-9
up at 12 ends, however the opponents did not give up and came back strongly, overtaking Marldon to claim a 22-19 win.
Logan, Les H, Wes and Martin R scored at twice the rate of their opponents, to claim a 24-12 win.
Mike S, Richard R, Ollie & James won 11 of the 21 ends in their game but a 6 and two fours included in the score
gave them the best win of the evening 29-15.
Richard M, Alan B, Allan C and Ed were 8-6 up whne they scored a 6 to go 14-6 in front, but the opposition responded with
a four to narrow the gap, and at 15 ends scored 5 then 2 then 3 to take a 22 - 16 lead, Marldon were unable to recover and lost 18-24.

Marldon are now at the half way point in their season, beng the first to get there, and although some of the other teams have more games left to play, when you work out the average points per game so far, Marldon are currently third in the table, averaging 7.71 per game, just 0.04 points per game behind Chudleigh. Kings currently have a good lead, averaging 11.3 points per game.

Just one winning rink for Marldon tonight, netting two points for the team.

June 10th Bovey Tracey v Marldon A
John Gib, Gordon, Martin C, and Peter C, fell behind but a three on 8th end brought scores level and another 7 shots on
next three ends opened up a 7 point lead, Marldon then won 7 of the final 10 ends to win 22-14
Richard M, Mick L, Alan B, and Allan C had a close game in which both teams scored a 5 on one end, and at 20 all after 20 ends the
game could go either way. Marldon finished with a four on the deciding end to win 24-20.
Mike S, Richard R, Ollie & James won 15 of the 21 ends in their game
and although the oppposition scores a four and 2 fives it was not enough to stop Marldon winning 33-19.
Logan, Craig, Wes and Martin R had an even start to their game but scoring a five on the 11th end opened up a six shot lead, the
rest of the game was evenly matched giving Marldon a 22-16 win.

June 4th Marldon A v Kingsbridge Park
Mike S, Richard, Ollie & James lost the first two ends but only let opponents score on 5 more ends winning their game 22-12.
Richard M, Alan B, Allan C and Ed scored heavily against their opponents only allowing then to score seven one's as they
cruised to a 36-7 win.
John Gib, Martin C, Peter C, and Dave C were matching the opposition for much of the game and were level at 11 all on 11th end.
the opposition then slowly pulled away to be 22-14 up with two ends to go. Marldon finished with a 2 and a 4 to finish just two points
behind, losing 20-22
Logan, Craig, Wes and Martin R started with a 5 and added 3 more before the opposition scored on 4th end. Marldon continued to
pull away and at 10 ends were 13 - 5 up. Four shot from opponents on next 2 ends narrowed the gap to 13-9 before Marldon once
again created a five shot lead. It proved to be not enough as the Kingsbridge rink finished strongly with 2, 3, and 2 to win the game
by 2 shots 20-18

May 27th Marldon A v Newton Abbot B
Mike S, Richard, Ollie, James raced into a 13-2 lead by the seventh end before the opposition fought back,
levelling the score at 17 all after 15 ends. Newton Abbot continued to score on next two ends and at 17 ends
were 20-17 in front.
Marldon had the stronger finish, scoring a 3, 4, and 2 in last 4 ends for a 26-21 win.
Richard M, Alan B, Allan C and Ed out-scored the opposition from the start, winning 14 of the 21 ends for a 22-14 win.
John Gib, Martin C, Peter C, and Dave C were in a fairly even battle and were level at 8 all afte 9 ends. Moving on, Marldon
got to 12-9 up before conceding a 2 and a 5 on next two ends to go 12-16 behind. Newton Abbot had the slightly better finish
and won 23-18
Logan, Craig, Wes and Martin R were being out-scored by their opponents who won 13 of the first 17 ends leaving Marldon
8-21 down. Marldon rallied to win the last four ends, scoring 11 shots which reduced the gap to 2 shots, losing 19-21.
With the overall scores slightly in Newton Abbot's favour after 18 ends (72-70), a good finish from all four of the Marldon Rinks saw the
overall result turned from Newton Abbot to Marldon.

May 23rd Chudleigh v Marldon A
Mike S, Richard, Ollie, James scored three singles but then failed to score for next 6 ends to go 3-9 behind.
Although they made up the deficit to be level after 14 ends they only scored once more and lost 13-18.
Richard M, Alan B, Allan C and Ed were behind but drew level at 8 all on the 10th end before a very good
finish only allowed oposition to score one more shot and Marldon won 24-11.
John Gib, Martin C, Peter C, and Dave C outscored their opponents throughout the game and won 24-12.
Logan, Craig, Bryan and Martin R were in front of the opposition for most of the game being 21-11 up by 17th end.
Chudleigh did attempt a comeback and narrowed the gap to 5 shots, but Marldon won 23-18

May 10th Marldon A v Kings B
Mike S, Richard, Ollie, James fell behind, 2-6, and after dropping a 5 on the 10th end found themselves 5-13 down.
Scoring a three and a four on the next two ends narrowed the gap to one shot and a 2 followed by a one brought them
level at 15 ends. Marldon then managed to win 4 of the remaining 6 ends for a well earned 20-17 win.
Richard M, Alan B, Allan C and Ed were level at 7-7 at 7 ends and level again at 15 ends before two consecutive 5s gave Kings
a 10 shot lead with just four ends left. Marldon were unable to stop Kings from winning by 9 shots 26-17
Both John Gib,Terry, Martin C, Peter C's rink and Logan, Craig, Wes and Martin R's rink lost heavily.

May 6th Marldon A v Totnes
Bryan S, Colin C, Allan C and Ed were in a close game and were tied at 8 all after 12 ends.
Totnes then won three ends in a row leaving Marldon 5 shots behind and although Marldon picked up 2 of the shots, it was not
enough and Marldon lost 14-17
Ian M, Les H, Ollie and James were comfortably winning ands were 16-4 up at end 12. Totnes put a lot of effort into trying
to close the gap but Marldon hung on for a 19-17 win
John Gibbons, Bob T, Terry G and Peter C were unable to score for 5 ends to be 8-0 down and only managed to score on
7 of the remaining ends, losing 13-24
Logan, Craig, Wes and Martin R had a tight game being tied on ends 11 and 17 before falling 3 shots behind with 2 ends left.
A 4 for Marldon on end 20 put Marldon in front and another 1 on the 21st end gave Marldon a 17-15 win

August 20th Marldon B v Newton Abbot 'C' Our final Game of the season
Tony W, Mick, Colin M and Colin C had a close game with shot difference never exceeding 4 either way, Colin had the better
finish to take the game 22-20.
John M, Dave T, Les H and Bryan had a more difficult game and were 10 adrift at one stage, they only managed to retrieve 2
of those shots and lost 15-23
Les C, Gordon P, Ray O' and Bob T had a close game but could not get in front and although they were only one shot behind
after 16 ends could not stop Newton Abbot from winning 4 of the last 5 ends and we lost 11-18.
Terry, Dave M, Shaun and Lenny slowly slipped further and further behind and by end 13 were 8-19 down. Picking up a 4
and a 1 on next 2 ends narrowed gap to 6 shots and Marldon continued the fight back until the 20th end when Marldon was
one shot up. Newton Abbot scored a 2 on the last end to frustrate Marldon after their good recovery, Marldon losing 22-23.
Final Score: Marldon 'B' 70 - Newton Abbot 'C' 84 .

August 12th Marldon B v Totnes
Gordon S, Ian, Ray O' and Bob T could not get away from their opposition tonight managing only to get 9-6 up before opponents
responded to level the scores on 12th end. Marldon scored another 4 shots on next two ends to restore the lead but Totnes then
scored a 3 and 2 2's to go back in front with two ends left. Marldon picked up 2 ones but it wasn't enough and Marldon lost by one
shot 16-17.
John M Dave T Les H and Colin M only had three opponents but those three came to life in second part of game to
advance from 7 all to 20 - 11 at the end. They had to concede 25% of their score, due to being one man short but still beat
Marldon 15-11.
Tony W, John R, Shaun and Lenny got in front early in the game but the opposition came back and the game was then
neck and neck to the end. Marldon scored a much needed one on last end to gain a 17 all tie.
Howard, Peter H, Les C and Bryan were also having a close game and were 9 all at 15 ends before falling one shot
behind with 2 ends to go. A good finish (two 3's) from Marldon saw them take the game 18-13.
A close game on all rinks but with
two winning rinks to Marldon' s 1 win and 1 draw sent the game Totnes's way.

August 5th Paignton C v Marldon B
Les C, Dion, Ray O' and Bob T took the lead on the 8th end and continued to open up a gap losing only four of the 13 remaining ends to win 25-14
Dave T, John R, Colin M and Bryan raced to a 15-6 lead by end 8 but then dropped 6 shots in two ends to narrow the gap to 3. The remainder
of the game became much closer and dropping two fours took the opposition into the lead on end 16. Marldon managed to pick up 5 to the opponents
three on the last 5 ends, winning the game 27-26.
John M, Howard, Gordon P and Les H slipped three shots beind in first three ends and despite all their best efforts were still three shots behind
after the 17th end. The opposition had the stronger finish and Marldon lost 13-19
Tony W, Ian, Shaun and Steve were 3 -1 up after 4 ends but then remained on three for the next 8 ends as the opposition built up an 11 shot lead.
The rest of game was fairly even but opponents added one more to their lead so Marldon lost 10-22.

August 2nd Marldon B v Victoria
John M, Ray W, Gordon P and Les H were just one of
four rinks having a close game tonight, but having taken a 21-15 lead at 18 ends failed to score again and lost by one shot 21-22.
Tony W, Peter H, Ian M and Bob T could find the jack on a long length but couldn't match the opposition if they put up a
short jack, so possession of the jack became a key factor. Marldon scored 12 shots in four ends early in game to go 16-8 up but
opposition rallied to narrow the gap to 5 shots before Marldon scored three to increase lead to 8. Losing the jack caused Marldon
to lose 4 ends in a row, narrowing lead to just 3 shots, but Marldon held on for the three shot win at 23-20.
Dave T, John R, Colin M and Colin C found themselves level on four occasions during their game but from 16 all at 20
ends took a one on last end to win 17-16.
Howard, Mick, Shaun and Ray O had a slow start and by the 10th end were 3-10 down, however a better second part of
game, including two 4's and a 3, pulled back to be 4 shots up at 17 ends. Victoria then scored 3 to get within one shot and with the
last 3 ends being equal, Marldon won 19-18

July 29th Marldon B v Brixham St Mary
John B, Peter H, Bryan and Les H were 0-13 down after 5 ends and despite narrowing the gap to 8 shots, fell back again to lose
16-34, The three shots they picked up on the last end though proved to be vital in winning the game overall.
Dave T, John R, Colin M and Colin C built up a 13 shot lead by the 6th end and although the opposition did their best,
the gap was still 13 shots at 18 ends. Brixham scored 7 on next three ends to close gap slightly with Marldon taking last end for
a 22-14 win.
Gordon, Mick, Shaun and Steve were seven down at the half way stage but a better second part of the
game saw them one shot behind after 18 ends and winning the final three ends for a 23-17 win.
Les C, Ian, Ray O' and Bob fell 4 behind before scoring 12 on next three ends for a 12-4 lead, Brixham continued to challenge,
narrowing the gap to 2 shots at 15 ends but Marldon took 5 of the last 6 ends for a 25-17 win.

July 26th Marldon B v TCBC
Howard, Peter H, Bryan and Les H had an up and down game taking an early 6-3 lead before dropping 4 shots behind at 9-13.
Winning the next 5 ends brought Marldon back into a 4 shot lead at 17-13 but TCBC took the last three ends to win 19-17.
Les C, Ian, Ray O' and Bob struggled to get started and were 1-10 behind after 6 ends. Marldon recovered well and
were level at 14 ends before TCBC picked up a four on the 15th end. Marldon then replied with 6, 4, 2, and 1 to be 27-18 up
with two ends to play. TCBC did not give up and took 5 shots on the last 2 ends, but Marldon won 27-23.
Dave T, John R, Colin M and Colin C also fell behind early in the game and were still 5 shots adrift at the 17th end. A good
finish saw Marldon score 6 on last four ends to win 14-13.
The fourth rink of Shaun, Mick, Gordon and Steve were five shots down after 2 ends and never really recovered as the
opposition continued to outscore them to win 23-13.

July 24th TCBC v Marldon B
John B, Mick, Bryan and Colin M were being outscored by their opponents throughout the game and lost 12-23
Les C, Ian, Ray O' and Bob struggled to get started and were 4-13 behind, before a recovery brought them back to within
one shot at 12-13, but that was as close as they got as the opposition pulled ahead again to a 24-16 win.
John R, Peter H, Gordon and Steve only managed to score on 6 of the 21 ends and lost heavily 11-27.
The fourth rink of Dave T, Dave A and Les H was a player short after Terry G pulled out at last minute and lost 17-19 but
had to give away 25% of their score.

June 25th Victoria v Marldon B Another good win!
Howard, John R, Colin M and Lenny were 5-10 down after 7 ends but then scored 20 shots without reply on the next 12 ends
to take a 25-10 lead.
The opposition finished the game with 2 1's giving Marldon a 25-12 win
Les C, Ian, Bryan and Bob T were level at 6 ends but fell behind 9-12 by the 14th end. Marldon rallied and got themselves
into a 21-13 lead into final end in which they dropped 4 shots, winning 21-17.
Steve, Ray O Dave and Shaun scored steadily throughout the game to reach a 25-6 lead with two ends left. 5 shots from the opposition
could not save them and Marldon won 25-11
John M, Les H, Gordon and Terry seemed to be up against the toughest opponents and were outscored throughout the game,
losing 7-18.

Thanks to the weather we have only played three games, and we won't reach the middle of our season until we have played three more games, all away from home, by mid July.
June 11th Newton Abbot C v Marldon B
Tony W, Ian, Ray O and Bob raced away
to a 12-2 lead but then appeared to fall asleep as the opposition brought the scores back to 12-10. Scoring 2 2's helped open
the gap and a better finish from Marldon saw us get a 25-16 win.
Les H. Mick L, Gordon and Shaun were outscored by the opposition and although they were only 2 shots behind at ten
ends, could not keep up as opposition pushed on to win 27-13.
Bryan, John M, Colin M and Lenny were only able to score on 6 ends and lost 7-29,
Howard, Ray W, John R and Terry struggled to score in first part of game and were 5-14 down after 12 ends. the second
part of the game was much better, as the Marldon 4 drew level with a five on the 17th end and went on to win 24-16.

May 16th Marldon B v Paignton 'C'
Les H, John R, Gordon and Bob scored well and were 15-7 up when they stopped for tea. Clearly distracted by the break Marldon
dropped 5 shots on the first end after tea, scored one on the next end and dropped another 5 to go one shot behind at 16-17.
The Marldon players held their nerve and won the last 8 ends for a good 30-17 win
Bryan, Mick L, Steve and Shaun had a difficult time on the next rink scoring on only 4 of the 21 ends to lose 9-34
Les C, Ian, Ray O and Dave C had a close game in the early stages. dropping behind before 2 2s on the last ends before tea left them
1 up at 11-10. Once they got in front Marldon pressed on, securing a good 27-19 win.
Ray W, Mike T, Colin M and Colin C won 8 of the first 10 ends to go 14-4 up and a 4 on the 11th end made it 18-4. The second half
of the game was more even but Paignton only narrowed the gap by two shots and Marldon won 23-11

May 2nd Totnes B v Marldon
John M, Howard B, John R & Mike T, briefly led 3-1 before losing 6 of the next seven ends to go 4- 13 down.
Winning the next 5 ends brought Marldon within two shots at 15-17 but Marldon failed to score on last five ends and lost 15-29
Bryan S, Mick L, Collin M & Sean took a 6-2 lead which they increased to 8-4, before opponents pulled back to
level scores at 9 all. Marldon scored better in second part of game to win 24- 16.
Les H, Ian M. Colin C and Lenny took the lead on 8th end and despite allowing their opponents to
level the scores on 15th end, Marldon had the best of the end game to win 22- 14.
Les C, Dave T. Ray O'B, Bob T were neck and neck throughout the game but pulled away at end to
win 20-17.
Final Score: Totnes 76 – Marldon 81.
